Another weight-loss tea bursting with ECGC? Green tea. The combo of caffeine and ECGC found in the tea has been found to help you lose weight and keep it off, per a meta-analysis on 11 studies in the International Journal of Obesity. Although tea is relatively low in caffeine—about 25% of what a cup of coffee delivers—decaffeinated varieties are great to have on hand for a soothing bedtime treat that will keep you out of the cabinets!

While manufacturers of weight loss pills continue to promote the convenience and rapid results associated with their products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other health authorities warn against their use. This fermented Chinese tea can literally shrink the size of your fat cells! To discover the brew’s fat-crusading powers Chinese researchers divided rats into five groups and fed them varying diets over a two month period. In addition to a control group, there was a group given a high-fat diet with no tea supplementation and three additional groups that were fed a high-fat diet with varying doses of pu-erh tea extract. The researchers found that the tea significantly lowered triglyceride concentrations (potentially dangerous fat found in the blood) and belly fat in the high-fat diet groups. Although sipping the tea could have slightly different outcomes in humans, we think these findings are promising enough that it’s still well worth your while to fix yourself a steaming hot cup.
2. Switch from saturated to unsaturated fats. Our ancestors also ate wild meat, which contains just 4 percent fat compared to the 25-30 percent in our usual chops and burgers. What's more, wild game contains twice as much unsaturated fat as domesticated meats, making its fat composition more like nuts than beef. Boost your diet's ratio of saturated to unsaturated fats by getting your protein from beans, fish, shellfish, skinless poultry breast, fat-free milk products and the occasional wild game, such as venison. Eat oils, nuts, seeds and fruits (avocados, olives) that are loaded with unsaturated fats.
Star anise, the fruit of a small evergreen tree (Illicium verum) native to China, can be used in the treatment of digestive troubles such an upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea etc. One may drink a tea made from it by steeping a whole pod in one cup of hot water for 10 minutes. Generally speaking, not enough is known about the safety of using even natural appetite suppressants during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so to stay on the safe side it’s wise to avoid use of supplements mentioned above during these times. Children and the elderly should also generally avoid consuming too much caffeine or supplements without a doctor’s opinion first.

DO start an aerobic exercise program as well as a weight-lifting program. Of course you have to exercise for weight loss! Do you really think diet alone will cause the lasting vegan weight loss you seek? There is no diet in this world that will work if you don't exercise regularly. If you go to the gym and walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes, that's certainly better than nothing at all. But you need to WORK UP A SWEAT to lose the fat.

However, an independent manufacturer of the drugs fought the EMA in the European courts and won, overturning the decision.
