The German and Finnish[2] militaries issued amphetamines to soldiers commonly to enhance warfare during the Second World War.[3] Following the war, amphetamines were redirected for use on the civilian market. Indeed, amphetamine itself was sold commercially as an appetite suppressant until it was outlawed in most parts of the world in the late 1950s because of safety issues. Many amphetamines produce side effects, including addiction, tachycardia and hypertension,[4] making prolonged unsupervised use dangerous.

After the nurse had pointed out a million times that I needed to lose X amount of weight, I finally snapped. I tried diet shakes (and everything else in the same category), all kinds of detoxes, lived on fruit and crisp bread. But no, the weight came right back again. Finally it pushed me into an eating disorder where I learned that hunger was my friend. In 9th grade I competed with myself to see how long I could go without eating. The record was 10 days, I think (I agonized if I accidentally swallowed tooth paste). The only thing I ate was fat-burning pills, and I exercised several times a day. When I had to eat, or when I lost it and went face down in candy, I’d stick my fingers down my throat. My entire life revolved around my weight.
These recipes look great! I’m excited to try them. Just a comment on the weight loss thing: While it is true that consuming less calories than you burn up should lead to weight loss, eating anything you want to lose weight might not be the healthiest way to go. Many of the diets out there are a recipe for diseases, even though a person might lose weight while doing them. I’m sure you know that but it seemed worth mentioning considering what you wrote. Thanks for your blog and for all the healthy recipes you share.
This fermented Chinese tea can literally shrink the size of your fat cells! To discover the brew’s fat-crusading powers Chinese researchers divided rats into five groups and fed them varying diets over a two month period. In addition to a control group, there was a group given a high-fat diet with no tea supplementation and three additional groups that were fed a high-fat diet with varying doses of pu-erh tea extract. The researchers found that the tea significantly lowered triglyceride concentrations (potentially dangerous fat found in the blood) and belly fat in the high-fat diet groups. Although sipping the tea could have slightly different outcomes in humans, we think these findings are promising enough that it’s still well worth your while to fix yourself a steaming hot cup.
So im charing my experience because based on the previous reviews I have read this seems unique to me. First, this does work as far as the appetite suppression, however, I do get jittery and I only take one pill a day I find that it also gets me a little nauseous for the first couple of hours of me taking it. But through the day I don't think about food and it has improved my late night snacking. I just feel like its a little strong for me but im hoping as I keep taking it my body just builds a tolerance.
A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition examined the anti-obesity effects of tea flavones. The study analyzed 4,280 men over a 14-year period. The researchers focused on 6 specific catechins and 3 flavones during the study period. The study was also adjusted for factors including type 2 diabetes, smoking status, and lifestyle. After the adjustment, researchers found that increased flavone intake resulted in healthier BMIs. The improvements were seen mainly in the female participants.
Pu erh is included in the Morning and Afternoon blend that is included in this package. Those blends were particularly my favorite. After drinking I felt wide awake, rejuvenated and mentally clear. It appears to be a mild diuretic as it made me urinate quite frequently, but this is a sign of cleansing the kidney and each time I went to the washroom, I felt better and better.

Oolong, a Chinese name for “black dragon,” is a light, floral tea that, like green tea, is also packed with catechins, which help to promote weight loss by boosting your body’s ability to metabolize lipids (fat). A study in the Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine found that participants who regularly sipped oolong tea lost six pounds over the course of the six-week time period. That’s a pound a week!

It’s so good! It’s written by a surgeon who used to perform bariatric surgery and recommend high-protein diets to his patients until he realized that none of it worked and that his patience would return later only to have gained weight… even the one who got surgery! This led him to read what the science really said! Great read and busts so many myths. I hope you enjoy many recipes 🙂
Although many herbs used in herbal teas are generally recognized as safe, always chat with your doctor before using herbal tea for weight loss, especially if you’re breast-feeding. The safety of some herbs, such as chamomile and ginger, has not been established for breast-feeding women or individuals with kidney or liver disease. Furthermore, some herbs -- when consumed in high amounts -- may interact with certain medications.
If you like peppermint tea then try and rotate that with a green tea drink as both speed up digestion and thus help you burn more calories. The peppermint leaves can be used to make a light, refreshing tea, which can be drunk either hot or chilled. To prepare the tea, take a tablespoon of fresh or dried leaves and add them to boiling water and let it steep for four to five minutes. Strain and add honey, if needed.

Put into a soup pot 1 can of no-salt-added red beans (drained), 4 cups low-sodium vegetable juice like Knudsen’s Very Veggie Low-Sodium Juice, 2 to 3 teaspoons oregano or Italian-style seasoning, and 2 cups of any veggies you already have sitting in the refrigerator bin, such as carrots, celery, and onions. Rough-chop the vegetables into bite-size pieces and bring to a boil, simmering until vegetables are crisp-tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. If desired, top with a tablespoon of fat-free sour cream.
You probably think that vegetable juice is just a way to get more veggies in your diet, right? That's true, but veggie juice has also been shown to fill you up. In fact, when people drank vegetable juice before a meal, they ended up eating 135 fewer calories. Now that's some appetite suppression! Just be sure to drink the low-sodium varieties, which are less likely to make you bloat.
